Militants Kill 16 Pakistani Soldiers in Coordinated Attacks

Pakistan reported on October 5, that coordinated militant attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 16 soldiers, primarily in border areas adjacent to Afghanistan, VOA reported on Saturday.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the violence, which included an ambush in North Waziristan that killed six soldiers and a separate attack in Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in seven fatalities.

Additionally, a roadside bomb in Balochistan killed three soldiers and injured four, with the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) taking responsibility for that assault. The surge in violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan follows the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, with Pakistan alleging that the TTP operates from Afghan territory.

A recent report documented nearly 1,000 deaths in Pakistan due to militant attacks in 2024. Meanwhile, a regional conference in Moscow expressed concern over terrorism from Afghanistan and urged the Taliban to take action against terrorist groups operating within its borders.
