Surge in anti-Muslim hate and Islamophobia in the UK, charity says
Anti-Muslim hate and Islamophobia in the UK have reached their highest levels in over a decade, with Tell Mama reporting 4,971 incidents since the October 7 Hamas-Israel conflict.
Tell Mama, a UK-based charity recording anti-Muslim incidents, noted in its recent report that 63% of these incidents involved abusive behavior, while 27% were classified as threatening. The majority of occurrences were concentrated in London, the North West, Yorkshire, and the Midlands.
In a parallel report, the Community Security Trust documented over 5,500 anti-Semitic incidents during the same period, marking a threefold increase from the previous year. Most of these cases also involved abusive behavior.
