UN Reports Successful Polio Vaccination of 650,000 Children in Gaza Amid Ongoing Health Crisis

The United Nations reports that over 560,000 children under 10 in the Gaza Strip have been vaccinated against polio in the first round of an emergency campaign, Xinhua reported yesterday.

The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that the campaign, which covered northern, central, and southern Gaza, concluded on September 12. A second round is planned in about four weeks.

Meanwhile, WHO analysis indicates that 22,500 people in Gaza have life-changing injuries requiring long-term rehabilitation. The health system is severely impacted, with only 17 of 36 hospitals partially operational.
