Autistic Malaysian Man Memorizes Entire Quran

Muhammad Naquib Ajmal Mohd Jamal Nasir, a 26-year-old with autism, has achieved an extraordinary milestone by memorizing the entire Quran, The Islamic Information website reported yesterday.

Graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Quranic Studies and Sunnah from Universiti Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah (UNIPSAS) on September 9, 2024, Naquib received a special award during the university’s 21st convocation ceremony.

Despite facing challenges related to his condition, Naquib has balanced his studies with Quranic recitation practice and tajwid. He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his parents and educators, stating, “Without their support, I might not have graduated or received this award today.”

His mother, Anita Elias, recalled Naquib’s early struggles with communication after his autism diagnosis at age seven, highlighting his exceptional memory. Now an instructor at Akademi Syahadah Tahfiz Al-Faizin, Naquib aims to participate in recitation competitions, showcasing his dedication and resilience in the face of adversity.
