Lebanon’s state electricity company (EDL) announced on Saturday that it has ceased supplying power after its final operational power plant depleted its fuel reserves, The National reported.
The company warned that this would impact critical infrastructure, including the airport, port, water systems, sewage facilities, and prisons.
Starting from noon on Saturday, Lebanon experienced a complete blackout of state electricity. Following the outage, the South Lebanon Water Corporation advised residents to conserve water due to the significant impact on its pumping capacity.
This development comes amid escalating fears of a full-scale conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, who have been involved in daily cross-border skirmishes since October 8, alongside the ongoing war in Gaza.
