Pakistan: Seven Terrorists Killed in Kurram District Operation
In a significant intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, security forces killed seven terrorists linked to Fitna Al Khawarij, formerly known as Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Dawn online newspaper reported yesterday.
The operation, confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), also resulted in five terrorists being injured and the discovery of a substantial cache of weapons and explosives.
This operation comes amid a surge in terrorist activities in Pakistan, particularly in KP and Balochistan, following the TTP’s end of a ceasefire in late 2022. An annual security report highlighted 1,524 fatalities and 1,463 injuries from 789 incidents in 2023, marking a six-year high in violence.
