Bangladesh Government Promises Action to Protect Religious Minorities

In the wake of recent attacks on Hindu households, temples, and businesses following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation, Bangladesh’s interim government has vowed to address the violence against religious minorities, Al-Jazeera reported yesterday.

Since Hasina’s departure, numerous incidents targeting Hindus, the largest minority in the predominantly Muslim nation, have sparked widespread concern.

The interim cabinet, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, acknowledged the severity of these attacks and committed to meeting with community representatives to find solutions. Protests erupted across the country, with thousands demanding an end to the violence and protection for the Hindu community.

The interim government has also pledged support for families of those killed during recent demonstrations. As the nation grapples with political turmoil, the focus remains on ensuring safety and restoring stability for all citizens.
