More than 700 media workers, 84 TV networks cover Holy Ashura Pilgrimage
Iraq’s Media and Communications Authority has announced statistical indicators for the media coverage of the Ashura Pilgrimage, which started on the first day of Muharram in the holy city of Karbala.
The authority confirmed that the pilgrimage witnessed a significant presence of journalists and media workers from both inside and outside Iraq, who conducted a round-the-clock live coverage.
Dr. Ali Al-Muaid, the head of the Media Authority, stated that “538 cameras were used in covering the Holy Ashura rituals, while 725 media workers, including 633 local and 92 from abroad covered this event.”
He added that “15 local radio stations and 84 satellite channels participated in broadcasting the pilgrimage events, with a total of more than 1108 hours of live broadcasting from within the holy city.”
It should be mentioned that government officials had confirmed that more than six million people commemorated the Tenth of Muharram in Holy Karbala, amid tight security and service plans.
