Pakistan Launches New Counter-Terror Campaign “Azm-e-Istehkam”
Pakistan announced a major counter-terrorism initiative named “Azm-e-Istehkam” (resolve for durability), Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.
This reinvigorated campaign aims to eradicate extremism and terrorism through a multi-pronged approach.
The announcement comes amidst rising violence, with 2023 recording the highest number of terror attacks in six years. The campaign involves renewed military efforts, enhanced legal frameworks for prosecuting terrorism cases, and stronger collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
Security for Chinese nationals working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects is also a priority. New protocols have been established following a call by China to strengthen protection for its citizens in Pakistan.
This initiative builds on previous operations like Raddul Fasad and Zarb-e-Azb, reflecting Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to combatting terrorism.
