Significant increase in malnutrition cases among women in Yemen, MSF warns

The international humanitarian medical organization “Doctors Without Borders” (MSF) has reported that malnutrition cases among women in Yemen are dramatically increasing.

The report said that this increase is attributed to the difficult conditions faced by the population amidst ongoing conflict and worsening economic crisis.

In this context, the organization emphasized that pregnant women and new mothers are among the most vulnerable groups at risk of malnutrition, leading to serious complications during pregnancy and childbirth.

They highlighted the difficulty in providing support and treatment to these women due to the lack of healthcare facilities and high transportation costs.

The MSF explained that this situation has prompted doctors and specialists to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and the necessity of providing targeted nutrition programs focusing on the most vulnerable groups, especially children under five and pregnant women and new mothers.

The organization stressed the need to enhance funding for health and nutrition programs by local and international entities, noting that prevention and early intervention are essential in combating the effects of this escalating humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
