Syria: Assailants attack buses carrying pilgrims of Sayyida Zainab’s Shrine

The buses carrying some pilgrims returning from their visitation of the holy shrine of Sayyida Zainab, peace be upon her, were attacked by unidentified assailants.

The incident happened in al-Hari village in al-Bukamal region of Syria, where assailants attacked the pilgrims with stones, sticks and iron rods.

According to local authorities, a number of pilgrims were injured and taken to the hospital.

This year, thousands of pilgrims attended the mourning ceremonies in Damascus to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Sayyida Zainab, creating a unique Azadari atmosphere in Sayyida Zainab region.

During the period marking the martyrdom of Sayyida Zainab, peace be upon her, Iraqi pilgrims formed mourning processions while visiting her shrine, overrunning the Sayyida Zainab’s region.
