Pilgrims have continued marching towards the holy city of Kadhimiya to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Mousa al-Kadhim, peace be upon him, the seventh of 12 revered Imams in Shiite Islam, who martyred in 799 AD.

Security forces close some streets to traffic for the days-long pilgrimage to protect the marching pilgrims and the hundreds of tents along their path where they can rest, eat and drink.
