At least one Bahraini youth was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning as Manama’s security forces stormed a number of private residences.
The Gulf Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (GIDHR) identified the young man as Sadiq Al-Ekri. He was detained in the northern Bahraini village of Al Daih. The reasons for Al-Ekri’s arrest are unknown.
Many of those detained since the start of Bahrain’s popular uprising have been taken into police custody without proper cause or an arrest warrant and faced torture as well as other forms of ill-treatment.
