The Customs Office at Misrata International Airport in Libya recently foiled an attempt to smuggle an Ottoman-era Holy Quran out of the Arab country.

According to Misrata Customs, the copy of the holy book dates back to 3 centuries ago.

It was written in 1102 Hijri/ 1690 AD during the rule of Sultan Suleiman II of the Ottoman Empire (1687-1691).

The destination of the smuggler was not revealed, but it’s believed to have been Turkey.
