Truck bomb blast in Afghan capital causes mass casualties

Horror and chaos gripped the Afghan capital Kabul following a huge car bomb explosion, which according to the Health Ministry has so far claimed at least 80 lives and wounded over 350 others.

The bomb exploded near the presidential palace and foreign embassies in the center of Kabul this morning, Afghan officials said.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, the precise target of which remains unclear, even though it hit Zanbaq Square, close to the German Embassy. Reports say several embassies have been damaged in the large explosion.
