ICRC: Majority of Yemenis need urgent humanitarian assistance

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) affirmed that the majority of the Yemeni people are in urgent need for humanitarian aid as a result of the war that has been going on in the country for 8 years.

The committee said on its Twitter account: “In Yemen today, more than 70% of people need humanitarian aid.”

The ICRC added, “Only 51% of health facilities are functioning in Yemen, and more than 4.7 million women and children suffer from acute malnutrition.”

The war has claimed the lives of 377,000 people, while more than 3.3 million civilians have fled their homes, with Yemen’s economy dramatically deteriorating.
