Floods Kill Eight, Including Children, Across Yemen
…………..
At least eight people, including children, have died in recent flash floods and heavy rains affecting northern and eastern Yemen, local media reported on Saturday. The downpours triggered widespread damage across several provinces, marking the heaviest flooding seen in parts of the country in decades.
In Hajjah province, three siblings aged between 5 and 11 were killed when their home collapsed during the storms, according to Reuters. Torrential rains also destroyed homes and belongings of hundreds of displaced families in the Abs district.
In Shabwa province, a man and his son drowned in floodwaters on Friday, while two children and a young man died in separate incidents in Shabwa and neighboring Hadramawt, bringing the toll in both provinces to five within 48 hours.
