US Offers $10 Million Reward for al-Qaeda Leader

The U.S. State Department has announced a $10 million reward for information leading to the whereabouts or activities of Saad bin Atef al-Awlaki, the leader of al-Qaeda in Yemen, Khaama Press reported. This initiative aims to disrupt and weaken the terrorist group’s operations in the region.

Saad bin Atef al-Awlaki, also known as Saad Mohammed Atef, has been heading al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) since March 2024, following the death of the previous leader Khalid Batarfi, who reportedly died from a chronic illness.

U.S. officials accuse al-Awlaki of orchestrating attacks against American interests and being directly involved in the abduction of multiple American and Western nationals in Yemen. Intelligence reports indicate that in June 2025, al-Awlaki issued threats targeting U.S. President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and billionaire Elon Musk.

The $10 million bounty underscores Washington’s commitment to dismantling al-Qaeda’s network in Yemen and bringing its leaders to justice. The State Department encourages anyone with credible information to come forward, emphasizing that weakening al-Qaeda’s leadership remains a top priority in U.S. counterterrorism efforts.
