US plans to move 1 million Palestinians to Libya, news agency reports

The Trump administration is reportedly developing a plan to permanently relocate up to one million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Libya, Arab News reported citing NBC News. The plan, cited by five sources familiar with the matter, is under serious consideration and has been discussed with Libya’s leadership.

As part of the proposal, the US would release billions of dollars in funds to Libya that were frozen over a decade ago. These funds would serve as an incentive for Libya to accept the resettlement of Palestinians.

The plan aims to address the ongoing humanitarian and political challenges in Gaza by relocating a significant portion of its population. However, details on the logistics, timeline, and reception of the plan by Palestinians and the international community remain unclear.

This development marks a significant and controversial shift in US policy regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, raising questions about the feasibility and ethical implications of relocating such a large population to Libya. The US government has not officially confirmed the plan.
