Over 1,900 Scientists Warn of Threats to Science Under Trump Administration

More than 1,900 members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine have signed an open letter expressing alarm over the Trump administration’s ongoing attacks on scientific integrity, The Guardian reported. The letter warns that the administration’s funding cuts, grant cancellations, and censorship pose a significant danger to independent scientific inquiry in the United States.

The signatories, united despite their diverse political beliefs, highlight that these measures are decimating the nation’s scientific enterprise. They note that slashed funding is halting critical research, dismissing faculty, and impacting the training of future scientists.

The letter criticizes the administration for manipulating research agendas, blocking studies on climate change and vaccine safety, and threatening the integrity of scientific institutions. Job cuts are expected in key health agencies, including the CDC and FDA, raising concerns about the future of public health initiatives.
