U.S. Begins Revoking Green Cards of Afghan Immigrants Amid Concerns

The United States has initiated the revocation of Green Cards for some Afghan immigrants, raising alarm among human rights organizations and the Afghan community, Afghanistan International reported. This unprecedented action, taken with little public notice, has left many feeling anxious and uncertain about their status.

The U.S. government’s concerns are linked to security issues regarding companies involved in issuing SIV approvals, which allegedly provided documentation without proper vetting.

Reports indicate that hundreds of Afghan immigrants, including interpreters and civil society activists who fled Taliban threats, are affected. Legal experts warn that this mass revocation may violate refugee protection principles and undermine trust in the immigration system. While DHS and USCIS have not publicly addressed the issue, some Congress members are demanding clarification and a halt to deportations pending a review of cases.
