Trump Proposes $5 Million ‘Gold Card’ Visas for US Residency

US President Donald Trump announced plans to sell new “gold card” residency permits for $5 million each, aimed at attracting wealthy individuals to the United States, Dawn online newspaper reported. The proposal, unveiled in the Oval Office, is positioned as a high-priced alternative to the traditional green card, which Trump claims will help reduce the national deficit by bringing in job creators.
Trump stated that the sales of these visas would begin in approximately two weeks, with the potential to sell up to one million cards. He emphasized that all applicants would undergo careful vetting, suggesting that even Russian oligarchs could be eligible, despite sanctions imposed on them since the Ukraine conflict.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick supported the initiative, noting that the funds generated could be utilized to address the national deficit. Trump also hinted at the possibility of naming the new visas after himself, saying, “If it helps, use the name Trump.” The proposal has sparked considerable discussion regarding immigration policy and economic implications.
