Mass Firings Begin in U.S. Federal Agencies Amid Trump, Musk Overhaul

In a significant shake-up of the federal workforce, mass firings have commenced under President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s leadership, Arab News reported. Recent reports indicate that numerous probationary employees across various agencies, including the Department of Education and the Small Business Administration, have received termination notices. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) conducted a group call to inform all probationary staff of their dismissal, emphasizing a shift in government policy.

Approximately 280,000 civilian workers were hired within the last two years, many still on probation. The Trump administration aims to streamline the workforce, with Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) overseeing the process. This initiative aligns with Trump’s long-standing goal to reduce the size of the federal government, a move he claims is necessary to eliminate waste and inefficiency.
The firings have sparked anxiety among federal workers, with many fearing they may be next as the administration continues its aggressive restructuring efforts.
