New Halal Station at Hobson Dining Hall to Enhance Muslim Student Life

Hobson Dining Hall, set to open in 2027, will feature a halal-certified station to better accommodate Muslim students, Dailyprincetonian.com revealed yesterday. Assistant Vice President of Campus Dining, Nadeem Siddiqui, announced this initiative, which aims to create a safe dining environment for those adhering to halal dietary laws.

The decision follows extensive discussions with the Muslim Students Association (MSA), highlighting the need for reliable halal options on campus. Current MSA president Zoha Khan emphasized the importance of having consistent halal meals available, while former co-president Leena Memon expressed optimism about the new offerings.

Campus Dining has also implemented staff training to prevent cross-contamination and introduced a Ramadan meal plan providing extra meal swipes for iftar and suhoor. Despite these improvements, some students have noted a decrease in the diversity of meat dishes and have called for more transparency regarding halal options.
