British Muslims Begin Preparations for the Holy Month of Ramadan

With the approach of Ramadan, Muslim communities across the United Kingdom are preparing for one of the most significant periods in the Islamic calendar.

According to IQNA, in London, mosques and community centers are already anticipating increased activity as worshippers get ready for a month dedicated to fasting, prayer, and reflection.

At Purley Masjid in Croydon, south London, the call to prayer for the afternoon Zhuhr prayer brings worshippers together in congregation. Mosque officials say that in the coming weeks, the mosque will become especially busy each evening during Ramadan, when Muslims gather for prayers and to break their fasts after sunset.

Sheikh Suleiman Gani, imam of Purley Masjid, explained that Ramadan plays a key role in spiritual education, particularly for younger generations. He noted that many families encourage children, especially those around the age of 12, to begin learning how to observe fasting as part of their religious development.
