UK Census Reveals Growing Muslim Population Amid Decline in Christian Affiliation
————————
Newly released UK census data reveals significant shifts in religious identity, highlighting a growing Muslim population alongside a decline in Christian affiliation, Zenit.org reported.

For the first time, fewer than half (46.64%) of UK residents identify as Christian, while 37.64% claim no religion. Among children, 10% identify as Muslim, marking a notable demographic change that may influence the country’s future religious landscape.

The data shows a clear generational divide: younger Britons under 34 are more likely to be non-religious or Muslim, with only a third identifying as Christian. Men constitute the majority of British Muslims, contrasting with women’s higher likelihood to identify with most other faiths, including Christianity. This evolving religious composition reflects broader societal changes as the UK becomes more pluralistic and diverse. The census underscores the growing presence and influence of Islam in British society.
