UK Records Hottest Day of 2025 So Far, Temperatures Could Reach 30°C This Week

The UK experienced its hottest day of the year so far on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching 24.9°C in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, The Guardian reported. This surpassed Monday’s previous high of 24.5°C recorded in London’s St James’s Park. Forecasters predict temperatures could soar to 27–29°C on Wednesday and Thursday, with some areas potentially hitting 30°C—the earliest such high temperature recorded in the UK.

Wales may also break its April temperature record of 26.2°C. The warmest areas are expected to be from London to the West Country and the Midlands. Temperatures will likely drop on Friday as high pressure moves away.

The London Fire Brigade has warned about dangers of cold water shock amid a 32% rise in water-related incidents. Research shows UK homes overheating in summer has quadrupled to 80% over the past decade, with air conditioning use increasing sevenfold to 21%, raising concerns about energy demand and social inequality.

From 2020 to 2024, over 10,000 heat-related deaths were recorded in the UK, highlighting the growing impact of climate change.
