The Cultural Association of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them and Ahlul Bayt Student Organization (ABSO) in the United States successfully concluded Imam Hussein Week last December.

A joint statement by the two associations, seen by Shia Waves Agency, said: “The month of December last year was full of important cultural and religious activities for the Shia community, most notably the Imam Hussein Week activities.”

It continued: “It was a great honor for the loyal Shias to commemorate the events of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and to begin the new year with the celebrations of the blessed birth of Sayyeda Fatima al-Zahra, peace be upon her.”

The statement explained that “the events of Imam Hussein Week witnessed large Shia turnout, and succeeded in raising awareness of the sacrifices of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, for humanity.”

The statement mentioned that “among the important activities of this event was the launch of a blood donation campaign with the help of the Gulf Coast Blood Drive, where large quantities of blood were collected, enough to save hundreds of lives.”

It pointed out that “the event was concluded by discussing important topics, most notably freedom and justice, and university students had their distinctive presence to discuss these topics and their relations with Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.”
