Global website publishes article on Shia Islam, Ahlulbayt

The ‘Articles Factory’, a cultural website specialized in publishing global research and studies, confirmed that the Shia sect is rich in rituals, values, and religious beliefs, but it is often misunderstood or ignored in the larger Islamic discourse.

The website said in a new article, viewed by Shia Waves Agency: “Shia Islam, which is one of the two main sects of Islam, has a rich history and diverse beliefs, but it is subjected to continuous targeting and is widely misunderstood.”

It explained that “Shia Islam dates back to the life of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his pure family, but it developed gradually after major historical events such as the incident of Karbala, in which the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, Imam Hussein, peace be upon them, was martyred. This incident is of great importance in the history of the Shia.”

The article continued: “The killing of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his supporters in Karbala has become a symbol of resistance and sacrifice for the Shia community, as well as for many revolutionaries and advocates of rights in the world.”

It pointed out that “what distinguishes the Shia sect from other Islamic sects is the complete belief in the imamate of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, and the deep veneration for them; as they are the spiritual and political successors appointed by God Almighty. This concept is considered to be the cornerstone of Shia Islam.”

The article also highlighted the persecution and challenges faced by Shia Muslims throughout history, stating that “Shias have faced persecution and challenges from extremists; and a large number of them in countries around the world still face discrimination, violence, and human rights violations because of their religious beliefs”.
