Grand Ayatollah al-Najafi emphasizes importance of religious tolerance, freedom of religion

Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir al-Najafi reaffirmed the importance of granting the freedom of worship to the followers of all religions, emphasizing the need of religious tolerance and greater cooperation between Islamic countries.

Grand Ayatollah al-Najafi’s statement came during meeting a delegation from Yemen, on their visit to the holy shrines of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, in Iraq.

His Eminence spoke about the courageous sacrifices of the Iraqis who defeated terrorism and injustice; and he extended his thanks to Holy Najaf and the honorable seminary.

Grand Ayatolla al-Najafi also received the President of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Raja Pervez Ashraf, and the accompanying delegation, emphasizing the need to grant followers of all religions the freedom of worship.

His Eminence thanked the delegations that visited his office in Najaf Ashraf to check on his health, asking God Almighty to protect them and all believers, and to grant victory to Islam over its enemies everywhere.
