Malaysian newspaper says Umayyad media still present yet in different forms

The online Malaysian newspaper “Harakah Daily” has published an editorial arguing that today’s misleading media is a continuation of the deviant Umayyad media in its tools aimed at fighting the righteous Islamic thought to the present day.

The newspaper cites the example of the Battle of Karbala, in which the Umayyad caliph Yazid bin Muawiyah ordered the massacre of Prophet Muhammad’s grandsons, Imam Hussain and his companions, peace be upon them.

The newspaper argues that this massacre was a result of the Umayyad propaganda machine, which portrayed Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, as a rebel and a threat to the caliphate.

The newspaper also cites the assassination of other members of the Prophet’s family, such as Zayd bin Ali and Yahya bin Zayd, by Umayyad and Abbasid rulers.

It argues that “these assassinations were also carried out in order to silence opposition to the ruling regimes.”

The newspaper concludes that “the goals of the new Umayyads, who are the enemies of Islam, are still present in our current era, yet in different forms and techniques,” citing “the use of artificial intelligence and deepfakes by these enemies to spread lies and propaganda about Islam.”
