Iraqi Translators Association honors winners of its second “Husseini Poems” Translation Contest
The Iraqi Translators Association held a ceremony in the Iraqi capital Baghdad to honour the winners of its second translation contest the “Husseini Poems” with the participation of a number of translators from various Iraqi provinces.
In a statement to Shia Waves Agency, the Association’s President, Dr. Qassem al-Assadi, said that “the Association is organizing its second annual contest for the translation of Husseini poems, with the participation of translators specialized in English, French, Spanish, Turkish, German, and Persian .”
He added that “this activity is held to enable Western readers to learn about the importance of the Husseini thought, the Husseini revolution, and the universal message of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, which rejects injustice and seeks to achieve justice and equality on earth.”
Al-Assadi explained that “the participants translated poems from classical Arabic as well as Iraqi colloquial Arabic into world languages,” adding that the poems translated “were written by prominent Iraqi and Arab poets.”
