Sudan: Civil society organizations demand fighting parties to end war
Hundreds of civil society organizations in Sudan demanded an end to the war and the establishment of social peace in the country.
The organizations announced their demands during their participation in the large demonstrations that were launched to call on all fighting parties to to end the war.
The head of the initiative of Civil Cociety Organizations to solve the Sudanese crisis, Adel Abdel-Baqi Ali, said in a statement to Shia Waves Agency: “Hundreds of Sudanese organizations have called on the Security Council, the African Union, the Arab League, and the European Union to pressure the parties of the conflict to stop the war in the country immediately and declare a truce for (30) days.”
He continued that “we submitted a memorandum to these bodies condemning the human rights violations taking place in Sudan, and we also called for designating the Islamic Movement as a terrorist organization that aims at undermining the social fabric and spreading racism and tribalism in the country.”
He added that this terrorist organization “recruits children and the elderly and calls for jihad in fighting the rebel Rapid Support Forces.”
Ali explained that “the demonstrators presented a comprehensive national initiative to both Egypt and Ethiopia; to support the comprehensive peace process in Sudan.”
He continued that “the demonstrators affirmed their opposition to the war and the political and geographical divisions that have hampered the support of regional and international initiatives aimed at resolving the Sudanese crisis.”
It should be mentioned that Sudan has been experiencing a long-running war that has claimed the lives of hundreds of victims, and has put the country into critical economic and health crises.
