Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan calls on government to end restrictions on Husseini rituals………………….

The Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan confirmed on Thursday that it is struggling to obtain the legitimate and legal rights of the Jafari people in the country.

The Council said in a statement viewd by Shia Waves Agency that “The members of the council have intensified their meetings for the purpose of demanding that the Pakistani government take into account the legal rights of the Shias in the country.”

It added that “the Shia followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, only want religious freedom and access to their legitimate legal rights, like the rest of the Pakistani people.”

The statement pointed out that “the holding of mourning ceremonies in memory of Ashura and the Holy Arba’een is under constant restrictions, which we completely reject, and it is our basic constitutional right to establish such ceremonies and the authorities have no right to prevent it in any way.”

The Council called on the Pakistani government “to completely lift these restrictions before next year, and not to prevent the holding of the unified procession to commemorate the Holy Arba’een of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.”
