30 million pilgrims expected to enter Karbala, Karbala Governorate estimates
“A few days before the last ten days of the month of Safar which highlight the event of Hosseini Arbaeen, we have reached the climax of the special plans designed for Arbaeen pilgrimage this year,” the Karbala Governorate announced on Wednesday, August 30.
“This governorate has already entered the most critical stage of its plans before the arrival of Hosseini Arbaeen on the 20th of the month of Safar, and estimates show that the number of pilgrims will reach 30 million people from inside and outside Iraq,” said Ali Al-Miyali, Deputy Governor of Karbala, in a press release followed by the Shia Waves Agency.
Al-Miyali emphasized that all the pilgrims who enter the province will stay in this holy land for at least two to three days, so it will be natural to experience density and thus crowding in such a pilgrimage attended by millions.
It should be mentioned that millions of devoted pilgrims from inside and outside Iraq are currently walking towards the holy city of Karbala to commemorate Arbaeen Event this year under strict security measures, while enjoying all kinds of necessary services and health facilities.
