Fourteen Dead After Militiamen Attack Village in Northeast DR Congo

At least fourteen people have been killed as militiamen launched a brutal attack on a village in the country’s northeast region.

The attack unfolded in the remote northeastern part of the Democratic Republic  Congo. Armed militiamen descended upon the unsuspecting community, launching a vicious assault that left a trail of destruction in its wake.

 Houses were set ablaze, and families were torn apart as chaos and panic gripped the village. By the time the attackers withdrew, fourteen innocent lives had been lost, and countless others were left traumatized.

The United Nations says the militia has expanded in recent months and now survivors of many attack are left with trauma and displacement.

Humanitarian organizations and local authorities are working tirelessly to provide much-needed assistance, but the sheer scale of the crisis presents significant challenges.
