Euro News releases documentary on Ashura rituals in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad

The ‘Euro News’ network has published a short documentary on the commemoration of the Ashura rituals and ceremonies in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad.

The documentary, viewed by Shia Waves Agency, showed live scenes in the holy city of Kadhimiya, along with several other areas in Baghdad, as massive numbers of pilgrims of various ages commemorated the Tenth of Muharram.

The network pointed out in a comment that “This ritual is part of the Shia traditions to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein bin Ali, who was killed in the Battle of Karbala in the 7th century AD, where mourners walk in the streets, old and young, beating their chests and heads.”
