Activities of Arba’een Pilgrimage Walk Festival start in Basra, Iraq

The Arba’een Pilgrimage Walk Festival has officially started today, Wednesday, under the slogan “From Sea to Sacrifice” from Ras Al-Bisha area, the farthest point in the southernmost part of Iraq.

Large crowds of believers, who have already began their on-foot journey towards the Holy Shrine of the Master of Martyrs, peace be upon him, attended the festival.

The festival witnessed the organization of various religious and mourning activities, including delivering speeches about the  Arbaeen Pilgrimage, its blesses and significance, as well as delivering poems in honour of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them.

The festival represents an official announcement of the start of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, when millions of pilgrims flock on-foot towards the holy city of Karbala.

Security forces have laid tight plans to secure all the roads, as service processions started spreading along the roads to offer food, water and other services to the honorable pilgrims.

It should be noted that Imam Hussein Channel 2 broadcasted the festival live from the city of Basra.
