Mayor of Dearborn condemns burning of Holy Quran

The mayor of Dearborn, a city in Michigan, and a member of the Shia community, Abdullah Hammoud, condemned the repeated desecration of the Holy Quran, demanding that the abusers be held accountable and brought to trial.

The mayor’s statement came during the protest organized by a large gathering of Muslims in the city, who condemned the repeated abuse and desecration of the Holy Quran.

In the statement received by Shia Waves Agency, Hammoud said that, “This march is nothing but a message of protest against those who violate the sanctity of the Holy Quran and the abusers must be brought to justice.”

Following burning a copy of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark, most Islamic countries condemned the incident and said it promotes violence, and demanded accountability.
