New documents found of ancient Iranian laments for Imam Hussein (AS)

After examining the text of some manuscripts in Yemen, Dr. Hassan Ansari, a researcher at Princeton University in the United States, has obtained the text of 7 pieces of elegy for Imam Hussein written in Baihaq (an area in the old Great Khorasan) during the years 400 to 499 AH.

Fetros Media has made efforts into producing a clip about this research, which examines the background of this historical document.

These documents are proof of the long-standing devotion of Iranians to Aba Abdullah al-Hussein. They strongly refute the claim that mourning and lamenting for the Master of the world’s free people in Iran began in the Safavid and Qajar eras.

Parts of this elegy were quoted from the manuscript Safinat al-Uloom written by a Hanafi Mu’tazili scholar from the end of the 5th century.
