Iraqi Ministry of Interior announces arrest of terrorist involved in Speicher Massacre
The Iraqi authorities announced, on Thursday, the arrest of one of the” perpetrators “of the Speicher Massacre, one of the worst “war crimes” committed by ISIS terrorist organization, in 2014.
In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the Iraqi Ministryof Interior said that “The terrorist, Abdul Khaliq Khazal Sultan,” who ‘joined ISIS in 2013,’ was arrested during an operation carried out by the Iraqi National Intelligence Service in coordination with the Counter-Terrorism Service, in Sulaymaniyah province.”
The statement pointed out that the terrorist “participated in a number of operations targeting the security forces in Salah al-Din governorate, and was one of the perpetrators of the Speicher Massacre.”
It should be mentioned that Speicher Massacre took place in June 2014, in northern Iraqi provinces, including Salah al-Din, where ISIS militants kidnapped from Speicher military base near Tikrit, north of Baghdad, hundreds of young army recruits, mostly Shias.
Video footages circulated media platforms showed the militants killing the young men and throwing their bodies into the river. According to official reports, the number of those kidnapped and killed was 1700.
