UNESCO calls for global ban on use of smart phones in schools

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, has called for a global ban on the use of smart phones in schools.

UNESCO said that in order to address classroom disruption, improve learning, and help protect children from cyberbullying, the use of smartphones should be banned in schools.

The organization said the call for a ban on smartphones in schools sends a clear message that digital technologies, including smartphones and artificial intelligence, should be subject to a “human-centered approach” to education and not replace face-to-face interaction with teachers.
