UN reacts to adoption of controversial immigration law in UK
In response to the adoption of the illegal immigration law in the United Kingdom, the United Nations announced that the new resolution of the British Parliament on illegal immigration is in conflict with London’s obligations under international law.
This law, which has provoked widespread criticism in the UK and international organizations, prevents asylum seekers who have entered the UK illegally. The government also wants migrants to be transferred very quickly to their country of origin or to a third country such as Rwanda after being detained.
A record-breaking number of 45,000 migrants arrived on British shores in 2022. In the first six months of 2023, more than 13 thousand people have passed through various routes to reach the UK.
