Shia Rights Watch
As the holy month of Muharram is approaching, the Shia Rights Watch (SRW), an international organization that defends Shia rights around the world, has documented terrorist acts and a rise in anti-Shia violations in a number of countries.
The SRW said in a statement received by Shia Waves Agency that it, “Documented anti-Shia violations in a number of the Gulf states, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran; based on sectarian backgrounds supported by official authorities and extremist groups and organizations.”
The organization expressed its disappointment over these human rights violations, reaffirming that, “These acts violate the international laws, charters and resolutions.”
The SRW confirmed that, “The rituals of Ashura and holding mourning ceremonies over the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon them, are carried out in a peaceful manner, away from any political, racial or sectarian motives.”
It added, “The rituals of Ashura represent a broad humanitarian dimension and an Islamic approach that is not limited to one Islamic sect, but it is to all Muslims as per scholars.”
The Shia Rights Watch called on all Islamic and Arab countries to reconsider and review their measures towards the rituals of Ashura, away from all forms of political or sectarian agendas.”
