Meetings being held with Shias in Srinagar before Muharram

A review meeting with representatives of the Shia community was co-chaired by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar to gauge readiness for the religious observance of Muharram-ul-Haram, Freepress Kashmir reported

In addition to notable members of the various Shia communities, the meeting was attended by the DC Srinagar, SSP Srinagar, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP CID, SSP Traffic, and SP Hqrs Srinagar, according to a statement from a police spokesman.

The purpose of the gathering held at PCR Kashmir was to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Muharram-ul-Haram rituals.

The review meeting covered a wide range of subjects related to Muharram-ul-Haram, including  security, logistics, traffic management, and other important aspects.

Crowd control, ensuring the orderly flow of processions, and maintaining crowd control received special attention during this time.

The Charing officers met with prominent members of the Shia community and solicited their advice on how to conduct Muharram-ul-Haram without incident.

Officers gave representatives of the Shia community assurances that all legitimate requests would be given top priority while responding to their concerns and suggestions.

In light of the significance of Muharram-ul-Haram and the necessity of promoting peaceful celebrations, ADGP Kashmir reaffirmed its dedication to making all necessary security arrangements and support available.

Additionally, Div Com gave the Shia community representatives assurances that all services, such as electricity, water, and medical facilities, would be available throughout Muharram-ul-Haram.

In order to ensure the success of Muharram-ul-Haram observances while upholding peace and harmony in the valley, the ADGP Kashmir and Div Com Kashmir pleaded with all interested parties to cooperate and offer their support.
