European Union to impose strict immigration laws

European leaders are meeting today, Thursday, June 29, to begin a review of European immigration laws; However, the new rules will probably make it more difficult for immigrants to enter Europe.

Recently, a ship carrying a group of migrants sank, resulting in the death of more than 500 people. The European Commission President described the incident a “disaster”. Ursula von der Leyen claimed that the tragedy occurred so quickly that the European forces did not have enough time to respond in time.

Her statement comes despite the fact that a decade ago, following 300 migrants drowning in the waters off Italy in October 2013, European leaders promised that such tragedies would never happen again.
