Saudi release Bahraini Shiite cleric
Two days ago, various Bahraini media reported the arrest of a Shiite cleric named “Sheikh Jamil al -Baqiri” by Saudi security forces.
The news was soon reproduced in various media around the world, especially the Arab media, and was widely reflected because the arrest of the Shiite cleric took place only on charges of reciting prayer for Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him).
This anti -Shiite and anti -cultural move was heavily criticized by public opinion, especially the Shiites, and was met with a wave of criticism.
As a result, in less than 48 hours, the Saudi government have allegedly regretted their action and released Sheikh al -Baqiri.
It should be noted that the US-based world organization for defending Shiite rights, Shia Rights Watch, which is affiliated to World Foundation of Ayatollah Shirazi, had issued a sharp statement after the arrest of this Bahraini Shiite cleric, calling for his immediate release.
