Saudi Arabia executes another Shia youth

Saudi Arabia has executed another young Shiite from Qatif region on false charges of terrorism.
A statement published by the Saudi Ministry of Interior claimed that Muslim bin Ahmad Al-Milad “weakened internal security” and “trafficked firearms and narcotics”.
Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia announced the execution of three people in the Shiite Eastern Province on trumped-up charges. Hussein bin Ali bin Muhammad al-Mohishi, Fazil bin Zaki bin Hussein Ansif and Zakaria bin Hassan bin Muhammad al-Mohishi were sentenced to death.
Saudi Arabia’s oil-rich, predominantly Shia province has been the scene of peaceful protests since February 2011.
The protesters are demanding reforms, freedom of speech, the release of political prisoners and an end to economic and religious discrimination against the residents of this region. Demonstrations have been met with severe repression and increased security measures throughout the province by Saudi forces.
Since Mohammed bin Salman became Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader in 2017, the kingdom has ramped up arrests of activists, bloggers, intellectuals and others seen as political opponents. Even in the face of international condemnations, Saudis show almost zero tolerance for dissent. As a result, Muslim scholars have been executed and women’s rights activists have been put behind bars and tortured, as freedom of speech, assembly and belief continues to be denied
