Indian Shia Cleric Calls for Muslim Unity, Solidarity Against Injustice

Indian Shia cleric Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Reza Haider Zaidi has called on Muslims to strengthen unity, overcome sectarian divisions, and work together in support of oppressed communities and humanitarian causes.

Speaking during Friday prayers at Shahi Asafi Mosque in Lucknow, Zaidi emphasized the importance of Islamic principles of monotheism, justice, and moral responsibility, saying that faith should be reflected through social conduct and service to humanity.

He urged Muslims to focus on shared religious values rather than differences, arguing that unity is essential for addressing injustice and supporting those facing hardship. He also highlighted the leadership models of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) and Imam Ali (peace be upon him), describing their governance as examples of justice, dignity, and care for society.

Zaidi referred to discussions from Tawhid al-Mufaddal and the life of Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), emphasizing the importance of dialogue, knowledge, and respectful engagement with others.

The cleric also called on followers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) to reflect the ethical teachings of the Imams, citing the uprising of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) as a symbol of defending justice and human values.

Addressing social responsibility, Zaidi encouraged greater involvement in charitable activities based on community needs, including supporting education, healthcare, and assistance for vulnerable people.

He concluded by calling for greater awareness of developments affecting Muslim communities worldwide and for cooperation among different Islamic groups in defending the rights of the oppressed and promoting peace.
