The East Turkistan Government-in-Exile has called on US President Donald Trump to address the situation of Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslim communities in China during any talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

According to ANI, the group urged Washington to press Beijing over what it described as ongoing restrictions on religious, cultural, and civil rights in the Xinjiang region, which it refers to as East Turkistan.

The group called for international attention to issues including religious freedom, cultural preservation, and the treatment of Uyghur communities, urging the US administration to include human rights concerns in diplomatic discussions with China.

The Chinese government has rejected allegations of human rights abuses in Xinjiang, saying its policies in the region focus on economic development, security, and countering extremism.

The appeal comes amid continued international debate over China’s policies toward Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in Xinjiang, with governments and rights organizations expressing differing views on the situation.
